Cass County Illinois Official Website
Welcome to Cass County! Formed in 1837, we are a small, rural county along both the Illinois and Sangamon Rivers, and straight west of the capital city of Springfield. As of the 2010 US Census we have a population of 13,642, making us one of the least populated counties in Illinois. Although we are small in size, we have a large immigrant population that has grown in the last twenty years, making Cass County one of the most diverse counties in downstate Illinois. We also represent a top 10% Health Department in the US, in the Cass County Health Department.

You may pay your real estate tax at any local bank, in person at the Treasurer’s Office, or by mail. You must include your payment stubs. Credit cards and debit cards are also accepted at the Treasurer’s Office, online at www.casscountyiltax.us or by phone IVR by calling 217-439-4109. Processing fees are charged by the credit/debit card companies at a rate of 2½% plus a $1.50 fee per transaction. E-Check is accepted at www.casscountyiltax.us with a service fee of $2.00 per E-Check.
